I don't want to use the word "choke" when describing the 49ers tonight, but I guess I just did. Wow, a 20-10 lead into the 4th and then an atrocious collapse. But I will give KC the credit. They were better in the quarter that mattered and that is what decides it. Congrats KC! I was cheering you on as I wanted to get you back to where you were 50 years ago. Too long, and deserved!
Congrats to the long-suffering Chiefs Kingdom. Just my overly-simplistic analysis, but whenever guys playing certain positions needed to step up their game during the playoffs, they did, and that was the difference. Examples include making Derrick Henry look human in the AFC Championship, and of course slowing down the 49ers’ DL last night. It of course helps to have guys like Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and Damien Williams, who has had clutch games in the playoffs. Then you have the (HOF in my opinion) head coach in Andy Reid who finally has a ring with that job description, and then fantastic coordinators in Eric Bieniemy and Steve Spagnuolo, plus new key free agents like Tyrann Mathieu.
If they can keep their offense somewhat intact for the next few years with the free agency period always making an impact on a club, the Broncos, Chargers, and Raiders will be standing next to the Chiefs. And looking up at them. Right now, the receivers Sammy Watson, Travis Kelce, and Tyreek Hill combing with Mahones at quarterback? Whew, IMO the best group in the NFL.
Also, give credit to Steve Spagnuolo for the Chiefs defensive performance. With the Chiefs down 20-10 and Frisco getting that pick the defense held them off. And with Mahones? It's hard to say that Mahones had an off game when he just flat lit it up in the 4th quarter. But he was off a bit in the first quarter, credit Andy Reid for keeping things together on offense. Reid seems to have a special relationship with his quarterback which is a good thing.

I've been a Jets fan since they were the Titans and always an AFL/AFC guy. Congrats to the Chiefs and their fans! They've been the one team I've watched at every opportunity this year as they're very entertaining.
