Nudity =/= sex. Nudity =/= porn.

Sex might = naked, but naked does not = sex.

The sexualization of the sight of nudity is a cultural thing. It is learned. I had my sons, as pre-teens, sit down and watch a 2 hour documentary about a Native tribal village, somewhere deep in the South American (I think, otherwise some island, I'm not positive and it was ages ago we watched it) jungle, where the people pretty much just walked around naked. 2 hours of naked people. The boys looked uncomfortable and snickered at the parts for less than 20 minutes, before they got seriously drawn in and interested in how the people lived such different and interesting lives. By the end, when we talked about it, they had pretty much stopped noticing the nudity.

We also had a friend who was a proud breastfeeding Mom, and would visit us. My boys were older then, mid-teens, very much past puberty. And her whipping it out to feed baby, elicited no reaction at all from them. They didn't pointedly and awkwardly ignore her, they were able to include her in conversations, and they didn't stare.

I love environments where people can be comfortably nude. I believe all nude bodies are beautiful. All ages, genders, colors, sizes, shapes. It took membership at a club where a lot of nudity is going on, for me to feel that way, but once I did it really helped me get over my own criticism of my body. Every woman I've ever known, is critical of her own body, even the prettiest women I've known are. It's really nice to lay at least some of that to rest, to make peace with myself in that way.

Before I joined that club, I thought that being naked around people would be a big deal. It wasn't. It is amazing how fast it becomes no big deal, even for new folks. Or else it continues to be one forever for an individual and they never take off their clothes at all, but you get used to seeing other people naked pretty easily.

I am a strong believer, however, in consent. For some, seeing a nude person is voyeurism, especially if they're engaging in sexual behavior. Which means that I am very much against being somewhere that no one expects to see you naked, and being naked where you might be seen by the unsuspecting. I believe it to be unethical. If someone doesn't want to see that, they should have the right to not see that. Oddly, it was the "vanilla" guys when I was dating, who would say they wanted to get it on in public, and by that they didn't mean an all-adult club where it was ok, but rather a park or movie theater. Ugh. No. Scandalizing decent families is not my idea of a fun sexy time.

I have never visited a nudist event or location, but I think it would be lovely. I've considered going to a clothing optional hot spring, they have them here in Colorado. But all that...prime examples of strictly NON-sexual nudity.

Nothing, whatever floats their boat, don't really care what they do in their own home.
