Anyhow, iffy because of the way society views, naturally or through conditioning, such people. I'm afraid because of that it is an aspect that is doomed never to get off the ground, sort of like using marksmanship training to teach anger management (calm the body to put rounds on target). It might be workable but the prejudice against it is so strong, it will never be given the chance.

The diaries were discovered, the probation/parole was revoked, back into the slammer he went.....and various people were up in arms about "thought police". The real item on the table, though, is not "thought police" but rather, people not understanding just what probation/parole is.
As a prof put it to me once in class: "Let me explain what probation is. The government has given you this great gift of not putting you in jail, of letting you be free. You need to repay the government by being the best possible citizen it has, be the shining example for all to follow. If you aren't this, if you think you can continue living as you did before, then the government might and probably would be correct in withdrawing its gift."

Of course we have to remember that not all child porn users become addicts, and not all child porn users and addicts become actual child molesters. I admittedly don't know the facts, but I would imagine that there a lot more child porn users than there are actual child molesters. The majority must just stop at the viewing of the porn and self-satisfying. I'm sure there are people who "self satisfy" to all sorts of weird images, legal and illegal, and who never progress to acting it out in real life.
Here's the problem with that statement - where do you think the child porn is coming from? It's not the same 100 images being shared over and over again. People are creating it, every day - and it's not all coming from overseas. Child rapists - and I'm not going to call them "molesters" because they're rapists, that's what they are - are part of a huge industry creating child porn. Every time you hear on the news that some guy is caught with thousands of files on his computer - do you think they are the same files that every other guy has been caught with? Nope. If people really knew and understood how many little kids were being raped every day they would lose their sh i t. Thanks for the info. I was never suggesting that this drawing thing should be a publicly funded or legally mandated thing. Just something that a pedophile, who has not acted on his impulses and who actually wants to keep it that way and not get in trouble, could decide to pursue.
I've only worked with 3 admitted pedophiles in my career, and only one had acted and approached a child (he was promptly arrested). The other two surprised me in that they were not the predators or sociopaths I'd imagined all pedophiles to be. They both understood right and wrong, legal and illegal, and knew that if they ever acted on their impulses, they would get into huge trouble. They both expressed shame about their impulses, and didn't want to act on them. I guess I had only read about the NAMBLA types who tried to justify their behavior. These two separate men were "disgusted" by the NMBLA mentality. They both felt like "freaks" who were "cursed" with this shameful problem. They also both had been sexually abused as kids, and had some insight that this was how their problems arose. They both made sure to stay away from children, and the one guy would insist on only coming to the clinic at times when there would be no kids in the lobby, like school hours.
Some might say that guys like that are the exception and not the rule, but I suspect that there are many more like them, who have this predilection and never act on it. It's just the ones who offend that we hear about.
Okay, we all know that there are people who are pedophiles and into child pornography. And we all agree it's despicable, etc. But I'm wondering about another habit that seems to be connected: sharing it.
In every news story I read about some guy, or ring of guys, getting caught with child porn, it's always because they were sharing it online.
So let's put aside for the moment that child porn is horrible, sick and harmful to kids. Let's say for argument's sake you are a guy who likes child porn. Why on earth would you choose to share it? That's how they get caught. Apparently there are these peer-to-peer file sharing networks online, and these guys somehow have this need to share their child porn pictures or videos. So even if you can grasp the fact that someone is compelled to look at child porn, what is this compulsion to share it with other guys?
It's funny how people often see loners as suspicious, and think that pedophiles are more likely to be loners. But any self-respecting loner would just look at the darned pictures on his own, all by himself, in the comfort of his own home, and not bother sharing then with other guys. So if child porn is your hobby (a disgusting illegal hobby) then why not just pursue it as a solitary hobby?
I have my own online solitary hobby: genealogy. Sure I might message other people on ancestry.com about something, rarely, but I largely pursue this hobby all by myself, and I feel no need to "share" my info I gather with other people. But I'm a bit of a loner. Non-loner, extraverted, genealogy hobbyists are more likely to join groups and share their findings with others. It seems to me that if these guys who like child porn (and let's face it, they're mostly all guys) would just keep their own little collection of sick photos to themselves, it's highly unlikely they'd get in trouble.
Of course, they'd have to obtain the files somehow in the first place. So I guess some "sharing" is involved in buying or getting the photos initially. But I think it's pretty rare that the guys the authorities catch sharing these files are just buying or downloading their very first child porn photo. They often (according to the news stories) are found with hundreds, even thousands of child porn files, and they get caught when they swap them with other guys.
So anyway, I just wonder, what's the motivation behind wanting to share one's child porn? Again, let's forget for a few minutes that it's terrible, repugnant, illegal, harmful, reprehensible, etc. Just examine why, if someone is into child porn, why he's compelled to share it with others?

News media, therapists, prosecutors, judges, lawyers and sex police. A government that lies to the people (weapons of mass destruction, NSA, etc. etc.) ceases to be the lawful government of this land; lies used to initiate search warrants for Child Pornography in search of pedophiles are the worst possible lies a government can commit against its own people.
Suspects in 30% of matters concluded in 2006 were declined due to weak or inadmissible evidence. 20% of matters concluded were declined due to lack of evidence of criminal intent (no crime established). 50% of the 2526 arrested for CP were never prosecuted. That means 1263 individuals had their lives destroyed, jobs lost, experienced huge financial losses, homes lost and cars gone credit wiped out for lack of payment, friendships lost, relatives keeping their distance, vigintiles threatening them, and all without going to trial because they were not properly investigated or should not have been investigated at all. Law enforcement choose to take the easy way out and just bust low hanging fruit P2P file sharers and those that are curious. The media reports only the gothic melodramas told to them by law enforcement without seeing the evidence; this stimulates curiosity and the rest is history. Jurisdictions still can't agree on a uniformed definition of CP and without knowing what they are talking about reporters report hearsay and nothing more. The poor sap P2P filesharer who pose no real risk to the community let alone a child get caught up in the madness.
