People lie for lots of reasons, humans suck at times.

What more can we say about this????

The only good is when you realize that you have a keeper when they don't pull this stuff otherwise we're talking about the same ol crap everyday....

Come on... she still lied. Let's keep it real, it she didn't she could have easily called the guy and surprised him or something along those lines.

Mod cut.

Yeah, I know. I've been around my 13-year-old too much, who likes to argue about technicalities.

If she REALLY wanted to go out with the guy, she would have said, "I have to babysit from 5-8, but I would love to meet you afterward!"

True, or if she wasn't sure of the time frame and assumed it was most of the night and then finds out that she can "get out early" type of thing if she was into the dude she would have called him up and would have been like "Hey, I got sprung early, let's go grab a pizza" or whatever. LOL.

Often people would rather lie than risk "hurting" someone with the truth. It's psychologically easier on the liar, and the liar assumes it will be easier on the other person.
