Today I was standing on a broad and wide porch at my tennis club. I was standing near the center of the porch with plenty of room on each side for people to walk. A lady says "excuse me" to ask me to move aside, even though there was plenty of room to pass.
Was that lady out of line?
I wasn't there, but it sounds like you were taking up more room than you thought. Next time, move to the side a little more. I see people all the time who are oblivious to their surroundings, and they stand right in the path of others........usually, they are gabbing on their cell phones.

Were you standing in that open space by the stairs?
Space very similar to that. I didn't shoot the actual space since it was filled with people who would not appreciate having their pictures posted on City-Data.
There are all those racquets right there. Why couldn't you have had a duel? Winner gets to pass through unencumbered!
I can't tell what's what from the photo, though. We'd need to know where the players were standing in this scenario.
Okay, it wouldn't bother me at all if someone said, "excuse me" and wanted me to move a little so they could pass by freely. That's my honest answer. I'd assume that there was a reason for it and I wouldn't give it another thought. And that's the truth. No more silliness. (from me!)

There are a lot of bags and furniture on the porch. If there had been anything like that near you, I would have said, "Excuse me" as I passed.
If you were standing near stairs, looking out at something in the distance, and I were approaching, I would say it to alert you to my presence under the assumption that you may have been concentrating and not heard me or that you might start walking all of a sudden and run into me.

So you were standing in the path to the stairs.
It was polite of her to say excuse me to someone who wasn't polite enough to stand off to the side.
This sort of thing happens a lot at the grocery store. I might have plenty of room to scoot behind someone bending over the deli case, but I'll still say excuse me, so they dont decide to back up at just the wrong time.
Unless she yelled it at the top of her lungs in order to cause a scene, what she did was cordially asking you to clear the path so she and others could pass more easily.
Move on (literally) and be mindful to not stand blocking anyone's path (this is especially a bad problem in stores where people block the flow of shoppers with their cart in the middle of the aisle). It's nothing to overthink though.
