Some might not even consider this trolling but I often, usually on subforums I don't frequent or other forums on the internet, explore alternative viewpoints by posting stuff that falls against the commonly accepted opinions of a certain group and see what their reaction is. My intention when doing this is mainly to see what gets certain types of people to tick rather than to **** people off.
Before Usenet went into the toilet with spam and flame wars in their unmoderated groups (about 90,000 of them) I got into some hefty arguments and debates, the tones of which would not be tolerated Mod cut.. I didn't consider it trolling which I understand is nothing more than a plea for attention.

Reason: Discussing C-D moderation.
By the definition of the word, trolling is probably something that everyone has done at some point. It's not necessarily intentional trolling in the poster's mind, but it may be intended to stir up trouble for one reason or another.
Sometimes it's best to remind yourself, too, that there are just some crazy weirdos on the internet with strange beliefs and viewpoints. I often envision some of those lonely, crazy homeless guys who use the public library computers coming on forums like this and spouting off their radical ideas about the world. Their intent isn't malicious; they're just bat bleep crazy.
Not anymore. When I was young and was first introduced to the internet, I used to seek out fundamentalist forums and be really, fabulously gay on them to see if I could get a rise out of people. I'm too old for that now.
