Your therapist is trying to tell you something.

I think your idea of reading books that deal with personal development is a good one. You can personalize what you discover when you reflect, and in sessions with your therapist.

I admire you for doing the work you are doing on yourself. What you are doing takes courage and grit.

For some the light of truth shines.
For others it merely burns.

Truth?
I think your passive aggressiveness endangers your sobriety.

Less courage and grit and more I needed to take all this to the next level to keep up with my life. I don't really think I have a choice. I had someone basically ask me to mentor them the other day, for example. First of all, that got me thinking "OMFG, I'm so OLD..." and the second thought was "holy crud, I gotta get my act together and stop futzing around."

But yeah, reading and then kind of discussing with my therapist was the idea. Thanks!

It's better to understand than to be understood.

Plenty of people will not do the self work to improve themselves. I have been reading about Jung, the psychologist. He believed that you could continue toward what he termed individuation throughout your life. I want to learn more about his thinking and work. At any rate, I wish you well on your journey.
