Science is only just beginning to reveal the neurological repercussions of porn consumption. But it is already clear that the mental health and sex lives of its widespread audience are suffering catastrophic effects. From depression to erectile dysfunction, porn appears to be hijacking our neural wiring with dire consequences.
I remember hearing people say that about video games and heavy metal music movies Facebook and so forth it's just the latest moral panic.

Viewing pornography as long as it's not interfering with your life is not an issue. I think shaming people for their instinctual urges is probably a lot worse it leads to this young man in this forum binging and purging with pornography and thinking that he's incapable of having some sort of relationship because of it

These urges are instinctual and they won't go away I would say figure out what is hindering you from pursuing real relationships.

No fap is backward 19th century religious cult crap.

In an effort to help the young man though, I think there are supplements out there that will decrease you labido. Chasteberry, never tried it. Let me know how it works for you.

Is porn really that bad for you?? I always thought everyone watched it, though many hypocrites would like to beg to differ. And I say "hypocrites" because my dad was one of them. He would preach to me about how bad it is to watch that stuff, yet my mom caught him so many times looking at it on the computer.

Pornography is like everything else. too much of it is probably bad for you but too much TV too much soda too much time playing video games, are all things that are done for you but it doesn't mean that watching TV drinking soda and playing video games is bad.

The reason why people are freaking out right now about pornography particularly is because of how available it is. You can sit in your house and watch it and nobody will know. When before you had to go to a special store select something you wanted out of the variety the store had and walk up to an actual person purchase it.

People always think change is bad. I think the availability of it delivered straight to you without having to interact with anybody else offers some more opportunity for more people to view it who would otherwise be too embarrassed to go into a store or order something through the mail.

This is the way to tell if you have a problem, are you losing sleep regular because you want to look at pornography, are you doing fewer things you enjoy that you would do if you weren't looking at pornography? Do you miss me once or bathe less frequently because you're too busy looking at pornography?

If you answered no to all of these things you don't have a problem.

if it's negatively impacting aspects of your life then it's a problem. I'm talking about a legitimate negative impact in that you're missing meals or you're not bathing regularly neglecting your children or your animals spouse or significant other, or not sleeping enough because you need to spend time looking at pornography those are legitimate negative impacts they have measurable consequences.

Young people are supposed to have a strong libido. That's how all of us got here and it's more important when they're younger because then they have more chance of conceiving children more children without complications.

Going and mucking about with it with hormone therapy out of some guilt complex seems like an extremely bad idea.

I don't see myself ever being able to form a relationship with a girl as I'm broke. I've got severe pressure from my family as they are dysfunctional so I'm not sure how I'm going to make things right and be dating material.

It's depressing but I'm learning to not dwell on what I'm not going to get and just trying to take steps to minimise things that make me hurt or annoyed and one of those is urges. Have thought on occasions of getting castrated lol though that's an extreme measure but hey I'd be lying if I never said it came across my mind....

Lol I had a friend who told me he caught porn on his computer after his dad used it. We were 16 I still did not watxh porn at that age. He was shocked as his dad was religious leader.

I used to lol and tell him it's natural and he's human haha. He was shocked though. I hope I'm not into my 40s watching porn. I sort of at times even though I watch porn I hate it. I am not a fan of open sex like that or casual sex.

I think I have a very high sex drive but I just try not to focus on it I usually watch it when I get very depressed.
I know it's natural and all but I am trying to stop myself from watching it full stop along with masturbating. It's just proving to be very difficult which depresses me really.

I hear the word depressed thrown out a lot. Perhaps we humans have some innate moral compass that sorta tugs at us when we over consume something that is supposed to be a little more special. Like after so long it’s like watching animals mating…not something that fulfills us as people. It’s like someone at 21 playing video games 8 hours a day…by age 30 they may say I need a change in my life and to do something else.
