To all germaphobes...

Haji, covered in soot and living in a cinder-block shack, was reported by local media not to have bathed with water or soap in more than 60 years. Villagers said he had experienced “emotional setbacks in his youth” that led him to refuse to wash.

Amou Haji’, who did not bathe for half a century, reportedly ate roadkill and smoked pipe filled with animal excrement and believed that cleanliness would make him ill.

Well, it did! He died last Sunday, soon after he took his first bath after more than 60 years.

Died at 94.

Probably resistant to every known germ and cancer cell on the planet.

So this guy had a mental illness in the Third World. Why is it a "current event?" Let the poor old guy rest in peace, geez.

I was thinking that, too. Kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel if it was put up here for people to mock him.

Months after he took his first bath.

I suspect his death had more to do with being 94 than it did with a bath months prior.

Most men aren’t the cleanest people around, very few are quite clean like me. Most are not that dirty, but aren’t as clean as anyone can be. So, when I read a title of the dirtiest man….

This is just another example of how some mental illnesses take over some people's lives if not treated. But I did enjoy looking at the pictures to see what exactly a person who hasn't washed in 60 years might look like. It was informative, I did not mock him as I know it was not something he could control (the mental problem), no matter what he tells himself..

Well SOME people maybe mock him, but few others had more common sense to see that it was not posted to make fun of him...

I actually had a coworker who's father, an educated and high functioning man a CEO of a big company, bathed and changed his sheets only once a year. He truly hated to take baths. Not sure about his BO, but he worked in the same company for decades and was highly regarded.

Perhaps this thread is more suited to be in Psychology Forum..

Why was it posted, then? The laughy face you put in the OP — that you've since edited out as well as moved the post from Current Events to the Psychology forum — and the comment about germaphobes would certainly cause a reasonable person to suspect that mockery was your intention.

Oh, and he didn't die from finally having a bath as suggested. He was just old.
