I just found this. The process takes about 30 minutes. You have to fill out an application, prove you have taken a ccw course prior, have your finger prints and mug shot taken, and provide other forms of identification. From there I heard that it takes about a week to get the permit.

Its a public facility, so I assume you can just walk in. If it is really busy, they may ask you to take a number.

.
Noticed this old thread and I have read that more than 10 county Tax collectors’ offices have been given authority to take applications, photograph and fingerprint applicants, and then send the information securely to the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Not sure if Charlotte County is doing so at this time.

I would go to the office on Bal Harbor. They do everything there. Quick and easy. They do take credit cards too.

Unless the requirements have changed in the last couple of years you can bypass the local firearms course if you show your are a military service veteran (Like with a DD-214) or are a retired police officer with ID to prove it.

PA carry has reciprocity in FL. Does anyone know if I show my PA CCR if I can get one on FL without the course?
