This yellow, older pit bull has been hanging around my house and on my front porch for 4 hours today. He doesn't want to leave. I gave him some water and am not sure what to do with him. I have been posting lost dog on several sites. I walk my dog daily and have never seen this dog in our neighborhood before. He is very friendly and wags his tail and follows me around if I go outside. He looks at me through my front window and cries. We are located in Port Charlotte near Harbor, Bingham and Veteran's. If no one comes to claim him by the end of the day, I will call animal control. I called a couple of shelters and they said I have to call animal control, they won't take him. I couldn't find any local pit bull rescues. He has a collar but no tags.

Here is his photo:

I was told that there is an emergency vet in town that you can go to and they will scan the animal for free to see if it has a microchip implanted. Unfortunately, I don't know what vet that is, nor do I know what you do with the animal if it isn't microchipped!

Hopefully he hasn't been abandoned. It's sad to think that some people just discard a pet.

He ran down the road after a red truck and never came back. I think I found who the owner is. I will have to go over to their house and see if he is there or if it was their dog. Another neighbor told me it might be this families dog. I guess it gets out quite a bit and runs around. The owner, the guy in the red truck, has to hunt it down and bring it home. I hope he is home safe.

Good for you Tammy. You're a bleeding heart like I am. I probably would have done the same as you. I did check craigslist and didn't see anything. You probabaly did too. Pet Finder I think is another one but hadn't had time. Hopefully the ##### in the truck will be more responsible. Hopefully he doesn't beat it for running away. Doesn't sound like he does.

BTW, I was chased by 2 Pitts the other night taking out the trash. They were going by the house alone and saw me and rushed me. I hadn't run that fast in years!

If ever I get lost I hope it will be around Tammy's house. She is a good soul.
