Like Harbor Hopper, I have a Virgin Mobile phone only we get poor reception at our house which is near Collingswood and Ackerman. Inside the house I'm lucky if I have one or two bars; no service isn't unusual. I normally have to stand outside the front door (the north side of the house) or at the back corner of the lanai to get a decent signal.

Check out the website www.antennasearch.com/ and you can see the distance of given areas from the towers and which carriers use what tower. The closest tower to my house is about 3.2 miles, which I guess is about the max for a signal??

Thanks to all who replied. Several of my friends echoed what posters said. Those who travel frequently reported spotty coverage with At&t, Sprint seems to get a signal wherever, Verizon is good and has a lot of 4g but expensive. 3g vs 4g not important to me, so not interested in paying premium prices for that. I found out Sprint Framily is no contract which I didn't even realize was even possible. Guess I need to start paying more attention.
And someone told me the phone can make a difference also. (Too many variables!)
And the antenna search was interesting!
Thanks again.

I have Verizon and am very happy with my service- I always have bars! My hubby has Virgin Mobil and has spotty coverage and sometimes doesn't get my texts. I've had Verizon for almost 10 years, hubby has had Virgin for 5 because he doesn't use his phone much.

BTW, some time last week Sprint finally added 4g service to the area. I never had a problem with just the 3g, but wow is the 4g fast!

Republic Wireless uses Sprint or switches to wifi connection when it is available. Basic voice and text unlimited for $10/mo.
$25 for voice text and data. We have had it for around 2 years works great especially where the signal strenght was weak inside the house now no signal strength problems!

I have Verizon and have no issues. I travel all up and down the coast of SW Florida. Like Sware2cod pointed out, it is a more expensive plan.
