one other point, they reduce the integrity of the door and negate its hurricane rating..........

As of 10 months ago the vents were allowed in the garage doors and were required if the slab was below FEMA and he vents in the side walls were too small. I have two homes in view with the vents and they have been issued CO's.

Loss mitigation

Wetlands mitigation
Etc etc etc

The word placed IN FRONT OF mitigation, defines it. TamRE used the word WIND in front of mitigation when discussing flood vents, and THAT was incorrect. I don't want my past clients calling because they're not getting their garage flood vent discount that they read about on City Data!
Another reason I generally do not participate in these forums ... now you got yourself in a hissy fit and you're looking for a pissing contest.

Your mistaken again ... as usual ... again.

You do not set the standard for how a word is used. Are you nuts or what!

It is clear to me, and I'd suggest to anyone with a reasonable attitude, that TamRe (who is perhaps the most helpful individual on this forum) was using a broad statement in an or context to simply point out that some insurance advantage may be had via mitigation in some circumstances. Then the nasties start ... for what reason.

If you want to big deal it and argue semantics then enjoy yourself.

Good grief!

Reports after Hurricane Charley were that a lot of the home damage occurred following the garage door giving away.

My garage door has additional bracing to help secure it from wind damage. We are above flood level, so no vents.
Interesting info. Thx.
