Computer forecast models have a low pressure center coming up from The Bahamas and Cuba area next week. One model shows it skirting the east coast of Florida as it heads north. Another has it taking the same track Ana did. The season officially kicks off Monday. The next on the list is Bill. Just sayin'.

North Port lightning, rain and a few big wind gusts. Love these Florida thunderstorms.

Getting lots of rain at my house now. Have the front and back doors open with nice 68 degree air pushing through.

Anyone else awakened by their NOAA Weather radio for this Tornado Warning for Port Charlotte / North Port? Huge thunderstorm moving north across the harbor. Wife is sleeping but I will stay awake to monitor the radio and conditions. Wind not even blowing right now but figure if I start to hear or see something I will get her up and put us in our safe room, which is our master bedroom closet.

Wondering how serious anyone else takes these situations. We've only actually executed that drill one other time here and it was daytime.

Nope....didn't get it, and now I'm wondering why not. I'm in the extended North Port area, on the far southern end of Venice. I might need to tweak my location settings in the weather radio app.

Be safe!

Yes MA, I received it at 0225 hours and I'm in Punta Gorda. Breezy and a downpour. I say we got 3 or 4 inches of rain.

Same here. We got the notice, and then the storm came through. There were a couple loud long rumblings along with it, but I've seen nastier Thunderstorms since I've been here. Guess I don't need to water this morning. ;-)
