I'm big on listening to the radio. The only television I watch is live sports, at home I basically always have radio on. Typically I listen to my favorite local station 105.3 WRLO ("Northern Wisconsin's Classic Rock Station") as I am now, which is currently playing Zeppelin's "The Lemon Song", but I also listen to 550WSAU am when I feel like listening to talk/news radio.

I have a local FM station I like a lot, in the course of a day I might hear Miles Davis, Willie Nelson, Grace Potter, Steppenwolf, Sam Cooke, Bob Marley and any other kind of 'good' music out there in the world.
Do you guys in AK get stations from the LOWER STATES @ night on AM or just from canada??
Im wondering what the farthest AM station you have heard up there from the USA is? (Have you ever heard 850 KOA in denver??)
I bet you hear russian stuff at night constantly! (Anything from hawaii??)
I listen to local radio stations in Fairbanks, such as 970AM. But along the local talk shows, which usually are about guns, hunting, reloading, cooking (local university chefs), and even road conditions, I also listen to some of the syndicated radio talk shows. For example, the best out there when it comes to explaining political issues is Rush, but during the weekend I sometimes listen to Michio Kaku (sciences), Kim Komando (computers, and and other gadgets such as phones, cameras, and so on), and more general subjects...to Joe Pags. Laura Imgraham is OK, too, or anybody else who slams both the Republicans and the Democrats alike (Rush has been pretty hard on the Republicans, too). I am an independent who loves this country, and who is not persuaded by politics from either side. The local AM stations are also streaming on the Internet.
Since I use my hands and eyes at work, AM radio is the best choice for me to keep me informed about the local and national news.

In Alaska one could listen to some stations from Russia and other places on the short wave bands, but one would have to have an outdoors antenna. HAM radio would be a better idea, I believe.
