My husband, daughter Natalie and I had Polka Dot for over 17 years. Natalie moved out 7 years ago and is now getting married! That is the great news. The sad news is, we put Polka Dot down on February 15, 2014 due to jaw cancer. She, too, was losing her ability to swallow. My heart feels like a Mack truck ran it over. We already had other cats, but no one is allowed to sleep with us yet and may never be allowed. I feel guilty for the euthanasia, but she was in such bad shape and had gone from almost 13 pounds to barely 7 pounds. I pray it was merciful and think it must have been. I have seen flashes of Polka a few times around the house since she passed just over 3 weeks ago. My husband thinks I am nuts, I am sure! She was there, though. This is not the first pet or person I have felt or seen after they had died. Any comments would be appreciated. I am so lonely for my little calico cat, sweet, funny Polka Dot!

What a stunning kitty.

Your wife found herself a really good, good man!

As for new kitty, nobody needs shoes, anyway. How sweet it is~!

Sorry about Polka Dot, cm. It's good though she is out of what had to be painful. It will get easier but you'll never forget. Just recently something brought my wolf/husky to mind and I cried for her. It's going on 40 years now!

I've heard the tingle of one of my cats' tags off and on after I had to put him to sleep.

Wow, 40 years is a long time, but love NEVER dies, not true love, especially when a wonderful pet is part of that love! It is so cool that you have heard the tinkle of your kitty's pet tags. I am so sorry for your loss of him and your wolf/ husky, though. I know you will never forget them and how they loved you! Thanks for your kind words about Polka Dot. I think I felt her jump on the end of the bed two nights ago! Polka felt nice and heavy like when she was healthy. It was very comforting. Thanks again gor writing back to me! Grief can be such a lonely thing. May God bless you and all the pet/animal lovers on here! CoffeeMouse

Oh Coffeemouse, I am so sorry for your loss. I'm facing putting my beautiful Maggie who is 17 down soon. Maybe even this week, we don't know yet. My heart is breaking in little pieces. We put our precious Calico down 17 years ago, when she was 16, and neither of us had ever cried so hard. They are such a huge part of our lives, and their love always lives in our hearts. I have heard of kitty sightings, and I think it's wonderful that your baby comes and visits you. When something happens to my Maggie, I hope she will come and see her mama and daddy. You can find comfort in that you gave your baby such a good life, and all they ever knew was your love. Hugs to you.
