My sweet almost 14 y/o cat was PTS this afternoon. She had serious allergies, probably some kind of cancer (lost a lot of weight), and a prolapsed rectum that she was licking raw (and the tail, too). She was just so uncomfortable! Last night when she tried to jump on my bed, she almost didn't make it - first time ever. Whatever was wrong was weakening her. I opted to have her euth'd. At her age, I would never put her through invasive tests/treatment. They are going to do a simple necropsy to see if they can find anything. She was a sweet and loving kitty.

It's such a hard decision to make, isn't it? I just went through this 2 weeks ago. Your Emma is at peace now, but you sure are going to miss her! I am sorry for the loss of your beloved companion.
I am very sorry for your loss of Emma. The most important things are that she is no longer in pain and that she knew that she was loved. Sending good thoughts to you.
Thank you all for the kind words - it means more than you can know until you go through it yourself.
