My internet connection is running a bit slow these days. I recently got a new laptop and started using a wireless router and things were going just fine. The computer is working great and the wireless router signal is strong, but recently my connection speeds have been slow with websites taking much longer than usual to load. I just went to CNET and did a connection speed test and my connection came back at 1016.4 Kbps. That seems kind of low to me. I'm curious what kind of connection speeds others are getting from TWC and if anybody has tips on any tweaks I can do to improve mine. Thanks!
I just cancelled my TWC/Road Runner and got earthlink. Exact same service, exact same modem (transferred from TWC account to my earthlink), and price dropped. The tech called from his car to transfer the service over. First 6 months are $30 then $42 after. Makes the horrible service a little more palatable. I tried clear. It was beyond awful in my house--like dialup speed.
None are too great, but then again I constantly stream netflix through PS3 and rarely have any latency issues with it.
I'm glad to hear about clear. They've been doing a lot of advertising around here lately and I was considering checking them out , but probably not now.
Get AT&T uverse if you can... they don't have problems like this because it's dedicated, switched bandwidth to your home, unlike cable which is shared with everyone else on your street. And the upload speed is 3x what you get on TWC.
The TWC server I am using in in Wilson 50 miles away - maybe I should try it hardwired to the TWC router rather than my cheap and cheerful wireless router and see what speed I get
