Looking around a bit in the Triangle area, I wasn't seeing a lot of mixed used development that combines office and retail. For example, North Hills Tower near 6 forks is a great location the combines both office and retail space. Are there any other places like that in the Triangle? Particularly near the airport or RTP?

I'm surprised that many of those mixed use developments like Park West Village don't have office space as part of their development. Maybe all the office space in RTP makes it uneconomical to build office space into it?

It seems like a good idea, but too often offices can be the kiss of death for retail.
Parking congestion and then empty lots during off hours.
One of the big hurdles for downtown revitalization was to get people to stick around after work.

The surrounding office parks have a fair amount of vacancy, even though they are more affordable than office space in Park West would be.

I actually like the set up at Waverly Place, where the offices are outside the shopping center, but have easy access.
Or, Crescent Commons, for that matter.

I'm curious how many people actually live in the same place that they work for these mixed-use developments.
