Looking to add one to our property. Very rural, so there are no HOA concerns, adn I really don't care (too much) about it matching the house or anything. Mostly worried about quality/longevity, and versatility.

Main things to store are 1-2 riding mowers, lots of garden equipment, a family's worth of inexpensive bikes and parts (Probably 6-8 bikes), and some camping gear. None of it's that valuable, but locking is a must.

Other wanted features:
either double doors, or a garage door
solid floor to handle the mowers
loft, or ability to add one myself
ouside (lean-to) storage would be nice
windows for ventilation
strong to handle wind/storms, etc...

Looked at Lowes, although I think the quality is suspect

There are some local builders, as well as the "metal building" route.

What do you suggest, and who?

Would like to keep it under $2k, but could go significantly higher if extra space and versatility justify it.

A little advice. If you think you need an 8 x 8, buy a 12 x 16. Nobody ever bought one that was too large.

Mine came from Leonard Bldgs, on Cap Blvd near the Wade Ave intersection. It has held up very well.

I got a TuffShed built through HomeDepot. I've been happy with it.

Most of the wooden or built models started at $3500-$4500. We ended up with a tuff shed found on craigs list...There are places like Cardnial in Garner and Grace Buildings that offer a variety of sizes and free delivery / set up.

Yup, we used Carolina Yard Barns as well. They were great! When you paint the shed, send them the picture you will get a 5 year warranty! Might only be a year or two if you don't. We've had our's three years now. Solid construction and the guy did our 8x10 in one day. I think it was around $1200 and that included a ramp. Which as silly as it sounds my neighbor built his own 10x12 and spend more on materials, plus he had to take up many weekends to get it built. We are handy but not like that. It's worth to have it done and be built well!

I bought a Lark buildings all metal 12X20 Garage that I keep a car in, it was $6,500. but I wanted something that was going to Last plus it had to be big enough for a car.
My neighbor has a similar building from Lark about 10X12 and I think he paid about $3,500.

Lark is out of Georgia but they have distributors all over NC, I bought mine in Reaford.
