A waste of resources. Buy salt and mag chloride heck sand and spreaders! 401 in Fuquay is and was nothing but ice. The snow quickly melted and refroze in the 26 degree temps. Now its freezing rain. 6 accidents that I saw during my run. I could have used ice skates on parts of the road !

I drove in from Holly Springs to North Raleigh and the main roads were excellent.

I guess the variance was due to local precipitation rates. N Raleigh seemed to go from light snow cover early to slush to wet. Never really ice packed. Didn't even put on the snow tires ...

Thanks. I've heard other people say that. The roads seem to be okay around my workplace, but I'm more worried about the fact that I'm out in the boonies!

Cold ground and temps below 32 and its still raining. The roads will only get better if it warms up above 32 today. probably later this afternoon.

Hubby drove in from North Raleigh to Clayton and said the main roads were fine.

I'm staying home!

For those of you that must go out...drive safely. Be aware of the other drivers that THINK they know how to drive!!! You know who you are!

The rain seemed to be melting the slush as I was coming in around 9:30/10 this morning.

And for the record... the brine DID work. Driving down Knightdale Blvd this morning you could clearly tell where the road was treated and where they stopped. It went from slush to sheet of ice.

I am confident in my bad weather driving skills, but not so much in others.

A pickup truck slid off the side of the road at Elliott Bridge Road and U.S. Highway 401 in Fayetteville, state troopers said. When the driver corrected, the truck's tires quickly gained traction on the pavement, sending it crashing into an oncoming car. The driver of the car was killed.

My boss said we should work from home today - so I'm staying inside where it's safe!
