Where do you take your out-of-town guests to eat? Do you have a few go-to restaurants in the Raleigh area?

I welcome all suggestions... but, in specific, these guests prefer fresh, healthier fare in a restaurant that has atmosphere (indoor or outdoor).

Ironic, because our guests seem to want to try places like the Angus Barn and The Pit due to national TV exposure - but they're not exactly healthy.
Irregardless Cafe in Raleigh might be a better fit for that ...

My guests aren't health nuts so my answer won't help you either. They just want to try anything that they don't have in their area. That sounds like a "duh" answer but its simplicity is the key.

We go to McCormick & Schmicks or Maggianos. Not the healthiest, but definitely yummy!

I'd take them to the The Market Restaurant in Raleigh (off Blount Street Downtown). Menu changes from week to week depending on what is in season. Afterwards take a left out the front door and walk 10 feet to Escazu and sit inside and sample some great locally made dark chocolate.

Another awesome place that has both indoor and outdoor seating, great food and a cool atmosphere is Humble Pie (warehouse district of downtown Raleigh)

Rockfish Grill over in Durham (at Southpoint) has some outdoor seating and some really nice, grilled options with steamed veggies and so forth...

That might be worth a shot if they like people watching.

Oh.... and they make great margaritas.

You could also try Humble Pie in downtown Raleigh, if they like tapas. It's fresh, though not all of it is health food.

They also have a Tiki Bar outside, so it's great this time of year.

i will second north_raleigh_guy's recommendations for humble pie & market. i also lovelovelove neomonde for fresh food & a sweet patio. i'd also recommend moonlight pizza for fresh salads & pizzas plus the great patio. we took family from the boston area to both those places & they really enjoyed both the food & the outside dining since it had been in the 50s & rainy for them.

Neomonde

It's definitely not in Raleigh but Foster's Market in Durham has fresh, healthy food with great atmosphere...our favorite breakfast place to sit outside & enjoy the day.
