I would like to buy a scooter. Any suggestions on where and what kind is best?? Also, do I need to take a driving course?? Are there any places around here to rent for the day??

Are you talking about a licensed scooter that can keep up with traffic, or the unlicensed scooters which by law must be incapable of exceeding 30mph on a level road?
Either way, it would be a good idea to take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course. Here in NC it is offered through the community colleges. This page says they provide the motorcycles. If you take and pass the course you will only have to take the written test at DMV to get your motorcycle endorsement.

I don't know about places to rent, but if you are talking about the licensed scooters they would not be able to rent to you unless you have the motorcycle endorsement on your license.
