Shopping advice needed from out of towner...

Where are the best places to shop for shoes in Raleigh or Cary? Decent quality shoes but last year's styles marked down. NOT department stores. Since there are three of us with different needs, we need more variety than you can find at Payless/Target/Marshalls/Ross/TJMaxx. We want to be trendy, and we don't need expensive shoes since our 11 and 14 year old feet are not yet done growing.

We used to shop at a store in NY called the Shoe Dept which was a little like Rack Room. Often found shoes there marked down to $10.

There is actually a Shoe Dept in Holly Springs in the Walmart shopping center. There is also one next to the Cary Walmart.

Have you tried DSW? I don't about their selection for kids shoes, but you can usually find some really good deals in their clearance shoes for adults.

I've only been to the one near Triangle Town Center mall, but it looks like there is one in Cary and Durham also.

Designer Shoes at DSW: Shop Thousands of Women's Shoes, Men's Shoes, Kids' Shoes, Sandals

Thanks! I was thinking it was DSW that was too expensive in NY but it was Famous Footwear that was very overpriced.

Keep the ideas comin!

FWIW, I've bought brand-name athletic shoes for my grandson at 6pm.com -- less expensive than what I could find locally -- and he was very happy with them.

We were just at DSW today. You can easily spend $100 per pair there, but there's plenty under $30. My two elder kids were combing the clearance racks and found some great deals if you're willing to pick through!

I used to shop Rack Room quite a bit. They're usually running a buy one get one 50% off this time of year.

Nordstrom rack can be a good source for kids shoes.

I was going to suggest that too, but thought maybe the OP didn't want to come out this way for shoes if there are other closer options. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality, selection, and pricing of shoes when I finally visited the store and it is definitely on my list of future places to go shoe shopping for the kids.
