There should be a shutoff possibly near your water heater. This valve will stop all water entering your internal piping.

If not sure, ask your GC where to find the valve and where your water meter is located.

Does the bill cover an outrageously long period? Raleigh has at times simply not billed folks until the omission was detected months later.

You can call the billing office (890-3245) to see when your meter was read in the last year. Normal cycle is every 2 months.

If all fails, see if the city will send an inspector at a reasonable cost.

Not such a bad idea! Don't knock it until you have seen it in person. This is becoming big in southern CA, Looks real.

Default Typical Water Bill

Well, we have been in contact with the water company and they are going to send someone over. They are saying our house is using three units a day on average. How much is the average family going through. We are looking for direction from anyone that can help. Thanks.

Here's mine. Don't see anything about "units". This is for a 2BR apt with washer & dryer. Consumption runs 10-20.

CAKD, I was wondering if the artifical turf absorbs heat more than normal sod/grass? In a new park by our house here in Durham one of the soccer fields is artifical grass and it is brutal to walk on in the summer heat. You can see the heat rising from it. Of course, since this is a park installation I assume it is more commercial than what I would need.

Do you have any experience w/ the heat factor of the artifical turf vs the real stuff?

Thanks!

I have no personal experience with the heat factor. I know someone who had it and they never mentioned heat being a factor with it (our former climate reached the 100"s during the summer months). We looked into it but then ended up moving. As I recall the granuals and "soil" layer they install it on absorbs heat and water just like real soil does. I walked on it and could not tell it wasn't real grass. Quite amazing. The only thing I would think might be weird about it here is that during the winter when everyone else grass does dorment because of the cold this would still be bright green In CA everyones grass is green year round. Might stick out like a sore thumb!
