Can anyone recommend a hardwood floor company that they have used to refinish their floors and/or steps?
Thanks

That link has posts for installation of new hardwood floors.

The OP is looking for refinishing of existing hardwood floors.

I have seen their work, and would consider it quite excellent, for installation or refinish.

When you look at someone's flooring work, look at edges and transitions and how they handle joining new areas to existing wood floors. The wood transition should be seamless in appearance, especially if adding same species wood to existing floor area.

Guys with talent do not put a trip board on top of the floor to cover bad transition work where wood meets carpet, tile, or vinyl. Edges are not gouged all around the room from letting the sander sit too long close to the wall.
I saw a knockout floor job this weekend. "Knockout" until I noticed that the flooring in the doorways was destroyed with gouging.

Fisher hardwoods is so great. BD's hardwoods did a great job in my house laying down flooring...but they wouldn't refinish 'half' my house -- Fisher hardwoods did a great job refinishing half my house at a time (I have continuous hardwoods) so that we didn't have to completely move out like BD's would have had us do. and you cannot tell where one side starts/ends in the living room where they two sides 'meet'. yay!

:-)
Good luck!

When our all-hardwood (except for the kitchen and bathrooms) floors in our 1970 home in rural Durham County needed a refinish, we asked our Realtor for a recommendation and she recommended:

Marek "Mark" Nadal (his last name is pronounced the same way as the tennis star's)
Bohemia Hardwood Flooring
Hillsborough, NC
Phone:
(919) 643-2823

...he did a great job refinishing our existing hardwoods. And when we had our 1970 era linoleum kitchen floor converted to hardwood to match the existing floors, he tore up the old floor down to the tongue-and-groove sub-floor (no sub-floor plywood back in 1970!) and did the job of putting down real hardwood in the kitchen, and blending it with the adjacent dining room and hallway's original hardwoods. Did a fantastic job of it (and coordinated with the contractor who was completely re-doing the old kitchen). Highly recommended.
