$25 per gallon for paint and primer. $50 for some rollers, brushes, trays, tape, and tarps. One of the easiest "do it yourself" projects that there is. My wife and I both work and we have 2 preschool children. If we can find the time to do it. . . anyone can
I found someone who is very reasonable, powder room was $80, large bathroom $100,
bedroom (12' x 15') $140 and the kitchen was $100. They did very good work, provided all materials except paint & primer and cleaned up after themselves. Please DM me if you'd like their number.
We had our living room done. It has vaulted ceilings, wood colored trim, and the bottom quarter of the wall was wood paneling. Wood stuff ended up taking a coat of primer and three coats white paint. Rest of the walls were two coats. Took them a couple of hours and it no longer looks like the Brady Bunch lives here! I believe it was $300. Seems high but consider this wasn't a normal room by any stretch. I highly recommend the company we used. R & D Painters.
You get what you pay for with a painter. I learned the hard way. Paint speckles all over the tub, paint in the carpet, missed spots, etc. You know all they have to do is buy a brush and a few drop cloths and voila - they are a painter.
There is a fee but I use Angie's List to find persons or companies to work in my house. Well worth it to know they have done good work before they come to your house.

Those are GREAT prices!
I just bought a house and we're still working on the remodeling. "Oooh, we can paint ourselves, save a bunch of money!" I thought.
And we did .... but .... I will never, ever paint anything again. If you can afford it, hire someone.

I just painted our 5' x 5' powder room and would have paid someone $80 to paint it. The small size made moving around so tough. Having to bring a ladder in to cut a clean edge at the wall/ceiling joint was a huge pain (9' ceilings). A BR is far easier, especially if all the furniture is already moved to the middle of the room.
I suggest you use Benjamin Moore paints. Good paint is $40 a gallon.
