We have some joists with wood rot that need to be professionally assessed. Can anyone make some recommendations for an engineer? We are in N Durham. Thanks!

The only structual engineer I know is Gregory Tierney of Tierey Engineering in Apex. He would probably go to Durham. He has gone from Apex to Raleigh for me. I will PM you with his number.

Good luck.

John McClancy is one of the best around. As an inspector I refer structural engineers pretty often. He is top notch.

If you just have rotted joists all you should need is a licensed contractor though. Structural engineers are more for foundation cracks, cut engineered trusses, etc. PM me with specifications of the problem and I will be glad to help you out.
