Hi all,

Trying to find some options for a casual business dinner. Prefer close to RTP/Durham, about 50 people, reasonable budget ($35-40 per), 3-4 hours, mid-September. About 75% of the group is from out of town, would be nice if locale could be near something noteworthy, but not required.

Any good ideas?

Thank you!

How about Maggiano's at Streets of Southpoint? I think it's slightly above your pricepoint but Heron's at The Umstead in Cary may be an idea as well. Or maybe rent out Bay 7 in the American Tobacco Campus and get some sort of dinner catered there. it's quite pretty through there and I'd say it's a notable area. I also believe the Tobacco Road Sports Cafe (also near the Tobacco Campus and overlooking Durham Bulls Athletic Park can host a large event of that size and well within that budget.

No way you could do Bay 7 for $35-40/person since you'd be having to rent linens, tables, etc in addition to getting a caterer.

Maggiano's is a good idea. There's several options in Brier Creek such as Trali and Azitra. I've heard Mez in RTP is supposed to be very good.

Maggianos is the best option. I'm not a fan of Chains, but they do a good job with their food, and they are VERY WELL SET UP to handle this, with special meeting rooms, and catering staff and menus already in place. I've organized holiday parties for our work, and I would recommend them without hesitation.

(If it were me though, I'd likely send you to a Taquaria in Durham.) ;-)

Thanks eva - I threw Bay 7 out there not knowing what they did/didn't include in the rental. It's been awhile since I've had to book a catered event! Speaking from experience I agree with you about Azitra - it's probably my favorite Indian restaurant in the area!

Capital City Chop House. Easy location right off of 40, convenient and simple for out of towners in rental cars. Something for everyone without the risk that ethnic foods won't be well received or won't agree with someone.

Yeah I think just the rental of the venue alone would kill you. If I remember correctly it's $2000 to rent the space.

Dos Perros rents out the bottom floor for large groups and blows away Mez.
