I've dined a lot in Durham and Asheville. I think Durham is great but I voted for Asheville. I really have only the most cursory experience with three of the other cities (Greenville, Charleston, Atlanta) and none with any of the others.

It's awesome to visit Asheville during the down season because all the restaurants are still open but fewer tourists to make the waits long. But no matter the season, you can count on one thing: you'll still have to wait (a long time) for a table at Tupelo Honey.

Durham is delicious, but my heart belongs to Asheville. It was there I had the best meal of my life, at The Admiral.

I voted Durham yesterday! I love Asheville and the food, but I'm a Durhamite and didn't feel like Asheville had an edge over Durham. I can see Asheville winning though, since it's such a touristy area.

Just voted Durham! I could see Asheville winning due to the other touristy things. :-/
