I would suggest she weigh how often (and at what time - 8 am YIKES!) she'll be going to work versus visiting you. I live in SW Durham and drive to Raleigh now and then for various reasons but would not want to do it during rush hour and certainly not twice a day SW Durham is about 40 mins from Garner.

If she is really set on being somewhat closer to your family what about Morrisville or Apex? If in Apex, 751 could be an option. There is a verrrry long stretch with no lights and is a pretty drive.

I have a few sets of clients that actually work at Duke but live around Glenwood Avenue in North Raleigh.

They are about 4 miles from 540 so it takes very little time to get to the highway.

The commute from 540 to Durham would be the issue. I'd imagine working that early in the morning, she'd avoid most of the traffic, which is what my clients do.

If you can make it past the 540/70 interchange by 7:15 the ride to Durham won't be too bad on most days. Any later than 7:15 through there, though, and its a nightmare. Coming home, you really need to be past 540/70 by 4:30 at the latest, otherwise you cross the flyover from 70 to see what looks like a parking lot heading north on 540...its moving, just very slowly.
