Hi all:

It's a beautiful day. I need suggestions for a nice scenic drive and/or hike -- perhaps within 2 hours of the Triangle?

THANKS!

Head towards Greensboro and take hwy 52 near Winston Salem to Pilot Mountain (or in the same direction, Hanging Rock State Park). Have a nice little hike, then head on into Mt. Airy (the original "Mayberry") and grab a bite to eat. Sounds like my kind of day!

Great! Do you figure it's about 2 hours to Mt. Airy? (or more correctly, 2 hours back from Mt. Airy?)

If you're into hiking there are great trails all over the place! We go hiking every weekend--it's gorgeous around here, and you certainly don't need to drive 2 hours to do it!
