Sorry for the misunderstanding. Other than the increased traffic, then the only issue is to be sure that zoning and HOA covenants and bylaws allow running a business out of your home.

Though I would agree with others about making sure you have sufficient insurance. My understanding is that incorporating to protect assets for a business run by a single person does not actually work to protect assets in a lawsuit. Piercing the corporate veil is probably worth looking into when you get to that point.

And I think it is wonderful that you are looking at caring for children in the thoughtful manner you are.

Good luck.

As noted, your bigger concern is insurance. Please do not attempt to do this without contacting your HO insurance carrier and asking them for guidance. You ARE NOT covered under you HO insurance policy for this business.

Do it legal, do it correctly, and you will be providing a great service to your neighborhood. Where we live (not in NC) Home Day Cares are allowed by zoning laws without restriction and all regulations are by the Health Dept and/or Child Protective Services.

Which can result in an unsafe amount of morning and afternoon vehicle traffic to certain homes running licensed Day Cares.
