Oh, my post wasn't directed at you. I agree that on highways almost all of us speed. I also agree that it is scary how some people drive through residential neighborhoods and school zones.

I have lived here for 18 years and have never seen any kind of on-going, sustained enforcement of traffic laws. As an example, people drive 80+ mph on I-40 and 540 because they know the risk of a ticket is low.

Instead of on-going enforcement, we get “crackdowns.” News stories warn of the upcoming crackdown, then there's a flurry of enforcement over a day or two, Then it’s back to the usual.

I find the lack of traffic law enforcement in school zones to be particularly frightening.

I couldn't have typed it better myself. The crackdown announcements are so stupid. How about a sustained effort? I was driving on the interstates around Cleveland, OH once and was astonished that no one was speeding. I found out pretty quickly why that is. There were officers running radar on literally every emergency turn around point on the highway. The town/city cops around there are just as traffic enforcement happy!

No worries NRG, the multiple cups of coffee this morning must be making me jumpy! With that said, I'm going to go out and clear the carbon deposits out of my car as I speed down I-40
