I actually have to call them today to have them price match a competitor as my 2-year contract ran out. I'll let you know if they turn me off.
So fast I still have time to edit this post. That was the absolute easiest contract renewal I have ever had with TWC. Makes me think their customer service has improved. I was currently under a 2-year promotion which expired this month. I just renewed it for another 2 years. I normally wouldn't sign up under a contract but I make an exception for TWC as I don't care about switching since I'm satisfied with the service. But since I hate to negotiate rates with TWC a contract means I won't have to negotiate for another 2 years. With the new rate increase my bill is now $74.57/month for basic/standard cable with variety pass (whatever that is) & dvr and standard internet. I own the modem so no fee there.
Love, love, love TWC!!

I call to find out why it is on there and to have it removed. I was told they can add services any time they wish if they think I "need" them. LOL!!! After going in circles a few minutes I got them to drop the "variety pass". I did notice after doing so some of the "on demand" channels had a lock next to them even though the shows were under the "free" section. Called them back up and said those channels are part of the variety pass. When I questioned the fact the channels were supposed to be free the operator said "Oh, okay. Let me unlock them". I swear TWC's employees are sent to school on how to be a scam artist.
I was surprised to see anyone say they "loved TWC"
then a few posts later you seem be off the koolaid you were drinking...
The day AT&T announced GigaPower for Cary, I called up TWC and they dropped my monthly rate by $12 while upgrading my Internet from standard to turbo. We're at like $130 for Internet, standard TV with a couple of CableCards for our TiVos, and phone.
Only 130/month? We have phone, internet, and cable-no dvr and ours is 198/month! I dont know what a cablecard is but I dont think we have one.

Yep...Triple Play promo for $100 plus $10 for the turbo Internet upgrade. Couple of CableCards at $2.50 each to let my TiVos interface with TWC, then another $20 of taxes and fees (some bogus, some legit). $135.90 total.
Thought it was more like $130, but last month was a bit cheaper since I'd just switched onto that promo part way through the month and got a small credit back for prior payments. So $135.90 is my rate with all taxes and fees.

So you have a promo. When I called when our promo was up my only option was to cancel! That is all she offered me.
When we moved to Cary recently. I called them to transfer my standard internet (15Mbps) to new address. The girl said it will cost me $20 or you can sign up for triple play and it will be free. I said let's do it. Everything set up within few days. I called 2 days later to cancel phone and cable and kept standard internet. I managed to negotiate the standard internet price down to $19.99 for 12 months by telling them to cancel the service all together.

I'm sure telling them I was looking to switch to AT&T GigaPower was a factor in them offering me the promo.
But in general I haven't had a problem getting promos. Only once have I had to go as far as to sign up for an install with AT&T and request a disconnect from TWC...TWC came through with a good promo, and I canceled the AT&T appointment.
VZN pulled the plug on FIOS.
Couldn't project that they would make enough money to continue to expand.
I would think they would do well in an area like the Triangle, but I am not in the know.
After my post this morning and before reading any further, I called Verizon and changed my service to include TV and will save some decent money. They seem to be advertising like they want to continue here. I sure hope they do and I hope the product matches that of my DirecTV. I have 14 days after install next week to back out. We shall see.
