I should probably hide after saying this next thing....I think it was better than Parker's and certainly better than Bill's.
I'll give you Parker's but B's?? You should sleep with one eye open. Just kidding, I find a lot of people have different preference between the three, but it's hands down B's for me.
My point was that the pork on the menu wasn't cheap either. $12 for a pulled pork dinner with 2 sides sounds about double what going rate is for that too. Even if you would never consider letting your taste buds wander to the dark side and ordering brisket, you're still forking over a pretty penny for the pork.
It's also not a bad price depending on the atmosphere and quality. 12$ is not out of line.
Even in barbeque, sometimes you get what you pay for. I might pay $6 and expect a decent lunch....but for dinner...I may has well hit a fast food place for that price.
we just went to the Q-shack for the first time yesterday for dinner, and the hubby wanted to go back today. that was the best! we had the brisket, mine was sliced and his was shredded. i know you will all tell me that is not bbq--but i am not ashamed to admit that i do not like pork bbq--sorry
but what i ate was bbq in my eyes and it was awsome!!!
Better than Parkers? Wha??? has it gone down hill? Haven't been there in years, but it was a must stop when visiting family in Wilson. Don't each much pork these days, but after everything I have heard over the years about Mitchell, probably gonna have to try it out.
No brunswick stew? whats up with that?

I'm a Texas transplant, and the best brisket that I've found so far is at Holy Smokes in Garner. The restaurant itself isn't the nicest, and the sides are just OK, but the brisket is excellent. A Texas transplant from San Antonio owns the place.
Just wanted to chime in on price--yes it's a little more but the atmosphere is fun and you'll have PLENTY of leftovers (at least if you go the traditional BBQ route). I know...I enjoyed mine! Enjoy!

I will second this. They sell all their meats by weight too, so if you just want 3 or 4 oz to make a small sandwich you don't have to go broke buying a whole order.
My only complaint is that the sauces they supply are not so great.
Mitchell's Chicken and BBQ was the best bbq in Wilson by far. Ed Mitchell knows how to cook a pig!
This place is run by Ed Mitchell - there was a story about it on WRAL's website:
