I'm not a huge fan of sports either (sometime, but not usually)
Durham bulls is just fun, because:
Really cool stadium
Lots of good people watching Lots of great restuarants before the game
The Tobacco District alone is worth seeing (Park at the upper deck so you have to walk through, most impressive!!!!)
and there is fun family-friendly entertainment between each inning that the kids will love.
IMO, the baseball games usually suck (LOL), but it's a fun outing for the family.

Specifically agree with the bolded comments. In addition, decent food and beer at the stadium.
Carolina Tiger Rescue is an excellent excursion with the family. ...Educational too! But you would need to sign up for a tour early. They fill up fast.
