Has anyone else received a letter of consent from Erie? We switched to Erie because we did not want to sign, but we knew this could happen. I would be disappointed to know Erie switched this quickly.

Someone has to pay for all the insurance fraud over "hail damage" in the area.
Those hundreds of "free" $8000---$10000 roofs, with the roofer "paying" the insurance deductible don't really go on for free, just because there is an insurance company writing checks for 20 year old roofs to be replaced.

So we got a Consent to Rate form from USAA for our homeowners policy. We've been with them several years and been very happy with the service. However, the way they have worded this letter making it seem as if it is something specific to our policy kind of gets my goat. We have never had any type of homeowners or renters insurance claim going back 20 plus years. We have two auto polices, homeowners and an umbrella policy as well with them and they are jacking the rate up 18% over the approved rate.mif you don't feel you can make money at the rates allowed here, just say so, but don't lie and say it's me.

Got one from Erie, as happy as we have been with them, time to shop around sadly.

Would anyone care to share what they roughly pay for home insurance? We have a 4bed, 2500sqft home, with nothing out of the ordinary. We are already at close to $900 a year and they want to change that by 25%

We're with Amica...4 bed, 1800sf, ~$200k house. Our premium is $433 this year. We switched from State Farm over five years ago when they tried to jack up our rates by almost 30% in one year.

We've never had more than about 6% percent increase with Amica, usually less...it's gone up a total of 22% in five years.

(It's sad that this year-old thread continues to be a problem.)

Keep in mind, the real concern you should have if you sign a Consent to Rate letter, is not just that the rates are going up, but rather you are signing away your legal rights that restrict ALL FUTURE rate increases.

NC Farm Bureau is, to my knowledge, the only carrier not doing a consent to rate form still.
