Hi. I was wondering if anyone can refer a butcher for deer in the triangle area. Most hunters I have talked to around here butcher their own, and many told me they just take the back straps off. I personally think that is a waste. I have seen a place on hwy 70 near Wilsons Mills, but I have not talked to them.
I had a butcher in upstate NY that would close his shop down for deer season, just so he could butcher deer. He would get use of the entire deer--steak, chops, roasts, etc.

There's a place on Hwy 54 west of Carrboro in the White Cross area that has a sign out that says "Deer Processing". I don't know exactly what that means, but they're beside Piedmont Feed. You could call them and ask about it and they'd be able to tell you a name so you could call the "deer processor" directly if they didn't have more info. Piedmont Feed & Garden Center

I have not used them, but have heard that Hurdle Mills Market and Butcher Shop processes deer. Give them a call and see if they can help you.

And illegal and I'm surprised that they would admit it to you.

Country Butcher in Zebulon and Mr. Pearce in Louisburg (I forget his name) both process deer. There is a guy near Fuquay (judging from your username) that does it; his cards are at the cash register at the Tackle Box bait shop in Fuquay Varina.

Also, if you look for other forums regarding NC Hunting and Fishing, you can find more threads with more recommendations. I don't think I can link them.
