In looking ahead to elem schools, I am wondering if anyone has input about Sterling Montessori. I know the school is difficult to get into as it is based on a lottery, but I want to determine if it is worth applying.
Can you share some pros and cons?
I am a teacher, and I am familiar with the Montessori approach. But I am looking at specific details about the school that you either loved or didn't prefer if you had a child that attended Sterling. Feel free to PM me if you want to keep it off the board.
My daughter just started K at Sterling. Although I don't have any point of reference but I like the school. It is Montessori so the kids of 3 grades are in a single room. Kindergarteners are with preschool aged kids - this helps in easy transition imo as they get nap time, etc.
Very happy with the academics. Kids are encouraged to go on their own pace. My daughter has become a better reader and already doing simple multiplication. There are a good number of field trips during the year - not sure how this number compares to public school. I did talk to several people who were sending their kids to Sterling before enrolling my daughter and had heard nothing but good things about it.
Thanks for the feedback. Red are you still in Raleigh? Or in Cary now?
Cary. My eldest is now in college and my younger 2 are in middle and high school.
