This has been going on for a couple of weeks along Dunn, but I just noticed that whoever this is has dug up the yards in one of the residential neighborhoods. What's going on?
I'd love to think that it's for something good - like the Google lines going in. I'm more wary, however, because of all the controversy over the lot on the corner.
They have been doing directional drilling and installing some sort of orange utility lines or tubing throughout Falls River and Bedford the past few weeks. I'm thinking it has to do with either Google Fiber or AT&T.
It definitely has nothing to do with any future development of the property on the corner of Dunn & Falls as there is not current proposal or development plan even on the table right now.
What's coming into the first neighborhood isn't orange, but it could be. As I had said, I'd love to think that it's Google Fiber. There's just been so much going on with that property that it's easy to be uneasy about it.
Also, there had been no notices that lawns would be dug up. You would think that residents would be notified if any construction equipment would be ripping a whole in the lawn.

I noticed that today. One house on the corner had a lawn very much torn up. I would not be thrilled. I hope it's google too. I pulled the plug on TWC this week.

Are the disrupted locations in the right of way/utility easement?
Surely, they are not tearing up more than about 10' from the curb?
Google fiber hasn't started anything in Raleigh yet and they are just having their first Hut location soon to be voted on for the Brier Creek area. It's most likely Att or possibly Time Warner.
