Respectfully, this site is not Facebook. Its purpose is to allow people to share data, answer relocation questions and find new information. The TOS explicitly states its not a "chat room". Posting individual examples of one's pet peeves only clutters up the site, takes away from its stated purpose, and frankly is tedious. Save that for your friends, family and Facebook, please.
Discussing the local news is as relevant as debating bagels, cultural offerings and traffic problems. And ultimately there are moderators who function in the role you're attempting to assume; if they concluded that any thread or content therein was misplaced or irrelevant they would (and have) taken action.
You do know you don't have to read a thread simply because it's there, right?
And speaking of the news, I've had to accept the harsh reality that my media DNA has been permanently altered after all these years living in the Triangle. I actually found myself clicking refresh every ten minutes on the WRAL website yesterday to find out if a verdict had been reached in the Matthews case. This is now "BIG" news for me. Forget debating the quality of food offerings, let's dissect how different big news stories are here in the Triangle compared to other parts of the world.
We just have to face up to the fact that, despite a gloriously insightful World Weekly News scoop that Hillary Clinton had chosen Bigfoot for her 2008 running mate, journalistic excellence has been in steep decline since the 1983 pinnacle of,
"HEADLESS BODY IN TOPLESS BAR."

kelly is free to discuss a local news station and whether or not she feels their standards are as good as they once were.
I think "this news site has been very sloppy with editing lately" is a sharing of information that might be relevant to people who live here or who are thinking of moving here.
We talk about all sorts of stuff on this forum.

WRAL online is full of grammatical errors. It's like they cut funding for any editing. Awkward sentence structures and conflicting information within the same article are par for the course.
I understand that they still have a large crew, but I think some of them must be asleep at the wheel here lately.

Come on folks. Some of the WRAL employees I know (and I do know some in reasonably high places) aren't as defensive over a critique of WRAL as some of you have been.
I think that this is a valid topic.
Granted, the example kelly gave isn't remotely the worst offense I've seen on WRAL's site lately, but still.
No reason we cannot discuss it. We are all clearly watching WRAL, reading their site, and/or reading their FB page. I unsubscribed from the latter because their social media person is really bad... ask me why! (clickbait!)

WRAL makes spelling mistakes quite often during the noon news. I know from working in TV that techie types (acting as assistant directors) usually type in the words, and the ones I used to know were never good spellers. So it's not the broadcast journalists, it's the techies. When I see an error, I simply tell them via Facebook, they fix it, and they thank me. Some people simply are not good spellers. Differing gifts.
