I have another related question: a product like Floodstop will not prevent leakages from the drain hose. Do I need to be concerned about significant water damage from a detached/leaking drain hose? The washer I have is an LG Direct Drive front load one, so it minimizes the water it holds at any point in a cycle. If I do need to be concerned about drain hose leakage, what solutions are available to prevent it?

Thanks,
Fijoy
The drain hose leak is a minor concern when compared to having a supply hose fail or internal washer supply fail. As you note, the machine holds minimal water when full. A more interesting concern is the possibility of a drain hose failing and long term leakage going undetected.
We have an upstairs laundry, without a floor drain, and use braided supply lines.
The next time we replace equipment, I may temporarily hold the laundry vacant, build in a tiled pan similar to a shower and install a drain. If we have a failure, I want to catch all the water I possibly can.
