The licensure board doesn't want us on the roof nowadays (older brittle shingles crack and start leaking when walked across, and there were a lot of seller complaints over the years to the board). I will still go up on single story roofs on older homes, or at least put the ladder to eaves if I need to see something closer though. Typically use binoculars which work well for all but a few areas, and the attic will certainly display any leaks. We will likely buy a drone with an HD camera in the near future, non-invasive and can see everything on a tablet below.

$895 gets you one of these bad boys, with 4K and 20 minutes flight time.

"On October 3, 2015 there were new changes implemented through the CFPB. You can look up all these new regulations on the CFPB’s website. The lender now chooses the company that will handle title and escrow for them. You are certainly able to choose an attorney to represent you as the buyer, but it will be buyer representation only, they cannot handle the title and escrow on behalf of the lender anymore. Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Thanks"

I believe that someone got one over on you, for whatever reason.
Did you use an internet lender from out of the area, or out of state?

I did use an out of state lender, but not an internet lender. It's a credit union who I've done all my banking with for many years. The mortgage process was pretty flawless.

I'm not sure who/what to believe, but if someone did indeed "get one over on me", then I rest my case regarding earlier discussion in this thread

Yep. You learned that you cannot trust your credit union. So, go to Angieslist and hire a crooked home inspector that your agent didn't recommend!
There! We closed the loop on the thread!

You can trust ME, really, you can, really, when I say, "I just laughed out loud."

FWIW: I nearly NEVER send anyone to a credit union anymore. Bumpkinville.

Oh now we shouldn't use credit unions. Good to know! I'm learning a lot today.

You should use a credit union if you want to. You know the one you used for years ran a game on you, but as long as you are satisfied, no loss. I just had the impression that it was your preference to be dealt with truthfully and with integrity.
Coastal Federal CU is the pits.
SECU, not as bad, but not as good as they were 5-7 years ago.
Navy Federal? Maybe. Maybe not.

But, across the board, not much of anyone is enchanted with the home loan process anymore.

I posted your situation up on the Mortgage board, and fully expect to have others weigh in that you were had.

I like it! Have been rolling the idea over for about 6 months, getting close to pulling the trigger.

I'm not the type of person to rely on someone else to determine my best interest. Sure it's easier to just take the recommendation of your realtor, and if your realtor is someone you know well and can trust, then that's perfectly fine.

By any chance are you a real estate agent?
Bold letters does not indicate yelling, it means I want someone to focus on that sentence. CAPITAL LETTERS IS THE INTERNET LINGO FOR YELLING.

I don't use a mechanic, I work on my own cars. On a rare occasion I have a trusted person I would take my wife's car to and take his recommendation. I use him when a repair is out of my ability to do it myself, so I trust him since he is the expert.

If there is something I don't know, I find a person who is an expert at that field and determine if I can trust them to give me solid advice or service. Today I am meeting with a countertop/granite person to see if he is someone I want to work with. If his prices are good, and he knows what he is talking about, I will end up spending a good chunk of money with him.

I am not someone that trusts people easily, but once someone earns my trust I am very loyal to them. I am a referral machine to those people as well.

I've had a couple of clients recently use NCSECU.

The only good program they have is an adjustable rate mortgage. And, although I would prefer to go with a fixed rate, there were reasons that this program was good for my buyers. Their fixed rate mortgage doesn't have the best rates around.

NCSECU isn't always as friendly to work with as a mortgage lender BUT we had no issues AND we closed on time, even with TRID!
