Hi everyone. I've decided that I need to get back into shape and lose a few pounds, and I would like to begin playing some basketball. I'm looking for gyms that have basketball courts, and possibly for any not-too-competitive basketball leagues for out-of-shape guys in their late 30s. These have been hard to find, so I would be grateful for any suggestions. I live in southeast Durham and work in Chapel Hill, but would travel pretty much anywhere within the Triangle. Thanks!
The Golds in Pleasant Valley has a court people play on a lot. The other ones in Raleigh have them but I'm usually the only one in there. The gym attached to the airport Sheraton I believe used to have a bball court. Also, there is a YMCA in downtown Durham with a bunch of courts.

Can anyone help on this twist to the first question,
I am no kid by any means,47 but i am a basketball nut and i play 2 to 3 times a week, I am not the best but i am in shape and can hold my own against most players, reasonably speaking, when i relocate to the triangle i will be looking for basketball leagues and pickup games at least 4 to 5 times a week competivly with people that can really understand the game well, please no one take offense here, can anyone help me here?????????????I understand that NC should have quite a basketball following considering all the colleges
in the area.ANY IDEAS????????????????????????????????????
There is a Chavis league but I wouldn't recommend that unless you played in college (this leagues is competitive to say the least). There is also a Triangle Sports Club that has year round leagues for bball, tennis, and everything else you can think of. Good luck.

I go to the Gold's at Celebration (Six Forks Rd) and in the mornings, there is a big basketball group of guys whom I always see in the locker room; they've been there for as long as I've belonged there (2000). I think they play about 7:30 or so because they're usually finishing up about 8:30.
