CAn someone please help me i tried to ask the quick pass people. If i get on 540 going east at Davis Drive and go towards Raleigh it that a toll. I Saw that it was exit 1 on 540. I saw the camera but the non toll 540 was about 3 tenths of a mile. IS that small little section from exit one coming from Davis drive back towards non toll 540 a toll

With a captive audience of RTP commuters coming from 40 and the non-toll section of 540 toward the southern part of RTP, did you really think that they wouldn't find a way to toll them?

There is no 540 east ramp at Davis Drive anymore. The only tolled ramps on Davis Drive are for 147.

Yes, it'd be either $0.72 via NC Quick Pass or $1.10 if you do the bill by mail option. That route will cause you to pass under one toll gantry going from NC-147 southbound to NC-540 northbound.

There are so many ways to avoid it from Davis, without going out of your way. Take Davis to either 40E, or all the way down to Cary (Waldo Rood, or even 64). Several other options depending on where you are going.

I live in Cary, and when I go to Durham, I take Davis all the way to 40 or Cornwallis. Drive time is the same to the minute, but a few bucks cheaper. If I were coming from south of 540 on US1 to Durham, then I suck it up and take the toll road, which saves exactly 10 minutes from Sanford versus taking 751 or 55. Even then, if I'm not in a rush, 10 minutes on a beautiful drive across the lakes is not that bad.

Really depends on the time of day. During peak commute times, I'll gladly pay the toll.

Agreed, I was thinking this after I posted. I work (in RTP) from 7-4:30, both of which beat the major rush. The toll road doesn't help my normal commute, but if I were going where it went at 5:15 I might be singing a different tune.
