Does anyone know what the parking regulations are in Cary regarding parking too close to a driveway and mailbox. I've read that in Raleigh you can't park within 5 ft of a driveway, but I can't find info for Cary on that. Same with the mailbox,can't find info on that. Neighbors are clearly blocking postal access to my mailbox and are parking so close to my driveway on both sides that I'm having a tough time backing out, just ridiculous. This is Cary, there's got to be some kind of rules on this!!!! 😊

No parking in the following locations...

Section 34-103(2):

Within an intersection or in front of a private driveway.
No specific definition of "in front of."

Section 34-103(14):

Quote:
Within 15 feet in either direction of a mailbox located adjacent to any street or highway, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., every day except Sundays and federal holidays.

Dang. As close together as some of these houses are, there's no way to park over 15 feet from a mailbox.

USPS is fixing that in new neighborhoods by requiring mailbox kiosks instead of curb delivery.

And they want to eventually try to make older neighborhoods add them too.

Of course, unless you live in a house with no driveway or garage, of which there are few in Cary, you really shouldn't need to park on the street regularly.

It sometimes looks like people park on the street to keep their driveways clear.

I have a single-car garage, and a single-lane driveway, but two drivers. We park our second car beside the house which works for us, but doing so means we are giving up some yard-space. The only other option would be to park one car in the street. While we don't do it, I do understand why some would. If I had a teenage driver in the house (or any third driver), we'd have to park it on the street.
