I guess that depends on what those same roles in SJ for non H1B hires would be. Sounds like a good amount in NC money, but it's really not a ton in SJ money, is it?

I don't actually believe that companies cannot find qualified applicants in the US the majority of the time, do you?

It's a scam born of corporate greed and misuse of capitalism.

Just like the unemployed have the burden of proof that they couldn't find a job despite applying before they are approved for benefits, these companies should be held to burden of proof that no US residents are answering their job ads and/or the people who are are completely unqualified and that they've expended reasonable expense and effort trying.

Then, the number of allocated VISAs should be maybe in the few thousand range, reserved for stuff like "patients are dying because we don't have enough heart surgeons to save their lives", so we need to import some life-saving doctors.

"Yeah cuz we want to produce software a little cheaper, never mind if quality suffers because our salesmen can smooth that one over, bottom line is our CEO needs a 10 million dollar christmas bonus and said get 'er done" is NOT an acceptable excuse.

The ads are structured to deter anyone from applying such as asking for great background and low pay.

Then, the company recruits lower paid talent from overseas offering visas.
