Moving to RDU, retiring and want to be close to parks, trails, and stores. Would love a ranch home with nice upgrades in the kitchen and bath. Don't need a big back yard but would like to have some room to sit and catch a cup of coffee in the morning. Not set on HOA or non HOA environment, would be open either way. Used to single home living but could give up all the maintenance. Any ideas where to start looking within 45 mins of airport? range around $300k.
In the western part of Cary: Heritage Pines, Carolina Preserve, and Courtyards of O'Kelly Chapel. All active adult living communities. I have a feeling the $300,000 might be on the lower end of these communities though.
Location: River's Edge Inn, Todd NC, and Lorgues France

Downtown Cary. I have a friend who just sold her ranch home there a few months ago right at your price range.
BTW, the general area you are talking about is usually called "The Triangle". RDU is the airport and RTP is a research center.
You should easily be able to find a brick ranch for under 300K, find one for 175K and drop 25K on a kitchen/bath remodel and you're good to go, with extra money to pay for lawn care service. There's a lot of older neighborhoods with brick ranches just waiting for a little TLC, well under your budget. If you don't need to commute to RTP, I'd steer clear of of Cary, NW Raleigh etc. as those locations are higher priced b/c of proximity to RTP.
I would love to find this also..I have lived
in the area a long time and the nice neighborhoods with ranch
houses seem to be very old and 400K and over.

What are your priorities in the new house? Any square foot requirement? Bedroom/bathrooms? What do you want to be near or do you want to be further out? If you could tell us a bit about what you like to do and what your needs/wants are we can probably give you some better suggestions. Are you open to condos and townhomes or single family ranch only?

Almost all ranch houses are 3/2. OP indicated a desire to be within 45 minutes of the airport, near parks , trails and stores.
