The closest option is the casino boats out of Little River, SC, just across the NC border. Cherokee is in Western NC, but being the only option, they are pretty high priced ($15 BJ on a mid-week afternoon). Mardi Gras, near Charleston WVa is a dog track that expanded into a casino is a good option, but a 5+ hour drive. I heard of a new one near Baltimore, but have not been there. I think there is parimutuel betting on horse races in Va.

Maryland Live. It's fairly decent, but it can be very crowded at times. There's also a brand new casino (just opened this month) at the National Harbor near DC.
